![]() LEGGI I COMMENTI (2) - PERMALINK sabato 12 settembre 2009 - ore 22:53 First week The first day of the week started with a news that made me open my eyes wide and made my stomach close and still now it’s conditioning my mood. At work I got billion of information about anything with the result that I can remember just some of them... At least I have a kind of work plan for a few days. I’m not done with the papers yet but I’m already tired of them. At least I could find the time to by blankets and pillow, it was a bit unconfortable to sleep like a tramp. On tuesday I had dinner with Krista at her place and I slept there because she had a couch and a cover too which meant luxury to me... So from there I went straight to university with my Ikea bag full of blankets. I got there after 9 and I was kind of "tired" bcoz she had a lot of bottles to finish. One among the others Cassis, a liquor from Dijon... coincidence. On thursday after work I participated at this freshmen celebration around the city, with funny tests and a lot of beer (that you had to carry yourself). After that there was a party but after 20 minutes I went home, still shocked by the facts discovered and because I needed to rest to be a bit fresh the day after. On friday I went to this place called Dark Side, where I met Fiorenza and all her beautiful friends which called my attention dancing all together in front of me for a long while but that couldn’t make it to make me feel better. Today is saturday and I’m at home... ![]() COMMENTA (0 commenti presenti) - PERMALINK mercoledì 9 settembre 2009 - ore 17:49 Helsinki Alarm was set at 5 am which means I didn’t sleep more than 30 minutes. We were at the airport almost 3 hours before the departure. While waiting to check in we started a chat with the guy in line after us who kept me company for the whole journey. He’s a bassist so we talked about music and stuff. Once we arrived in Tampere we took different paths and I took this train that took 1 hr and 20 minutes to get to Pasila, where my ”pick-up” was waiting for me. The train costed 33.60 Euros!!! This Plus the 6 Euros for the airport bus it makes 40 Euros!!! Well once I was there I met Jannica that gave me a warm welcome and took me to my new home. When I opened the door smoke was coming out and when I reached the kitchen there were 5 guys smoking and talking Spanish. They were actually part of my future flatmates. Indeed the official language in the aprtment was Spanish even though there is a guy from Latvia living in a room with transparent door... Everyone was great though, it took no time to get along perfectly. They’re also new here so we are not so organized yet but this didn’t avoid throwing a party the very same night I arrived. It wasn’t so expected, I was pretty tired after the trip and everything, but when I was surrounded by about 30 people from all over the world with music and drinks I just went with the flow. All the people at the party were very nice and friendly in the typical exchange student’s mood. After this they wanted to go to a disco in the center and even if it’s not my favourite place and I was tired I gave a chance to see what’s around in Helsinki. So we went to this place called Onilla where we paid 7 euros to get in and I paid for 2 drinks (I owed one) 18 euros! If you didn’t realize that yet Helsinki is freaking expensive city. There of course there were plenty of hot girls but hard to talk to so around 3.30 I decided I was too tired and bored to stay any longer. I couldn’t find my friends and I didn’t have their numbers yet so I just left. I didn’t want to take a cab coz I didn’t know the address and it was too expensive with the result that I walked for longer than 2 hrs to find the door to my building! The second day was better. We went to shop a few groceries and a box of beer and we started to party again... Jannica picked me up around 6.30 and later we went to another party in the nearby building where I talked to more people from all over the world, mostly attending my university. I was all great and noisy so when police came we moved to the center. We all took the train without paying (that’s kind of natural) and we went to this other place called Opera. Another disco where beer is 1 Euro and there no entrance fee! So we stayed there and since I wasn’t gonna dance at a certain time I went home with the train that cost me 4 Euros (they were checking) for 3 minutes journey. 2 days I’m here and I had 2 great parties meeting a lot of friendly people, it couldn’t be better. The weather sucks, ok, but we’re in Finland, not at the Canary Islands... COMMENTA (0 commenti presenti) - PERMALINK martedì 18 agosto 2009 - ore 14:02 Roadtrip Destination Sibenik and once configured the GPS we reach the place with no problems. The journey was many hours and many kilometers of amazing roads. After the boring Italian highway we got stuck in Slovenia where an mc accident blocked the road for at least half an hour. I don’t think the guy on the bike made it. Our fear was to find slippery and dangerous roads in Croatia but once we were there we were pleasantly amazed by the great roads and by the breathtaking view all along the coast. The bikes were going great and the speed was just perfect. The only negative note was the leather suit that I realized it’s too warm to travel in Southern Europe, especially if you follow the coast. In Sibenik we found a place to sleep not far from the sea so at night we took a walk down the harbor and had a few beers in the many bars. We ate fish for dinner and I did my first big mistake: I paid with my card and I left it in the restaurant! I would realize that only the next day, many kilometers away! When I found out at the gas station I asked the guy to find the number of that place and ask if they had found my card... And they had! I told him to keep it there for a few days. Side effect of this was that I had to use my little cash to fill the tank and pay the food. The problem got huge when I forgot a bag with my money, driving license and passport in a bar where we stopped along the way in Bosnia. It was the second day and I had left all my things around the world! I asked the police in Sarajevo to help me collect my bag but they seemed to be useless like in Italy. This ruined a bit my stay in the beautiful Sarajevo but tried not to think about it. After the Bosnian border we stopped by grill place where we ate typical meat for very little money. Unfortunately where there were tourists prices weren’t this low. My contacts in Sarajevo turned out to be useless because none showed up so after we got stuck with an appareantly funny guy from a restaurant we wasted the night roaming around the city with him who promised to find us a rock place. The rain touched our bikes in the sunday while we were still in Sarajevo. In the way back we stopped in there bar and after a lot if misunderstandings my bag came out! And the money was also there! I gave 20 euros to the bartender as a tip for taking car of my thungs for 2 days and we headed to Mostar. We didn’t stop for long there, just to take some pictures. The new destination was Dubrovnik and the journey kept being amazing. Bosnia also had wonderful roads and t e small villages we passed were precious. It was really hot and I remember how attracted I was by those mini-markets on the edge of the road selling fruit. Dubrovnik was as beautiful as crowded. We could find a nice room in the old town for 30 euros each thanks to a little girl, Maris, who offered me that on the street. The city was expensive and posh. I was sick of seeing all these models walking back and forth through the main street... They were too many and too sexy... Too much for a loner like me. Those types you need a lot of money to afford them. The 11th we took a trip out of Dubrovnik to take a swim and we found a nice stone beach where the water was transparent and even though there were clouds and I used some sun lotion, I succeded to get burnt by the sun sleeping near the water. The day after we left early in the morning so to avoid the tourist traffic while carrying the bags to the parking where our bikes were. We took the highway. It was boring but we could reach Sibenik quite early so to collect my credit card and reach the falls in Plitvice where we found a very nice room for very little money and a super flirty girl handing us the keys... I guess it’s a way to attract customers. It worked anyway! Day 14th We visited the lakes. We walked for about 3 hours and ate sandwiches. Everything was healthy until we got a visit from 2 Polish guys staying beside our room. They couldn’t speak much English but they managed to keep us in the balcony for a couple of hours giving us Polish vodka and beer... Every now and then the pregnant wife was coming out and scolding him for being so drunk and to go in bed while the other one, after he took a leak from the balcony, went back to sleep with his cute blonde girlfriend. The next day was the last day. It was raining in the morning so we decided I was not the case of going to the beach and head back home instead. Even the this last route was amazing. We went across more valleys until we reached Rijeka and from there we took a forced detour through central Istria since my GPS seemed to be not working properly… Thanks to my GPS failure we had the chance to see more wonderful landscapes, little towns, valleys, forest… in the end we reached Slovenia and from there it was pretty quick to reach the Italian border. Since highway is so boring we decided to take the ordinary roads and even though the traffic is heavy in Italy we didn’t give up and we got home around 9 pm. It was quite a surprise for my parents since they were waiting for me 2 days later! COMMENTA (0 commenti presenti) - PERMALINK > > > MESSAGGI PRECEDENTI |
